NYC Handing Out Free Apple AirTags In Response To Rise In Car Theft

Car thefts in New York City have gotten so out of control that the Mayor is handing out Apple AirTags to residents in an effort to track down stolen cars...along with the goods inside those cars.

Mayor Eric Adams says 500 of the little gadgets will be handed out to New Yorkers in areas that have been hit the hardest. Adams says the tags should help since “You can see in real-time where the vehicle is located.”

How bad has crime gotten in the big apple? Car thefts are 13% higher this year than last year. The mayor said one major factor is a TikTok challenge that advocates stealing Kia and Hyundai cars using a USB cord.
