THINGS YOU WOULDN'T KNOW IF you didn't read my blog....
THE SONG "DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD" is the number 1 song in Great Britain today (you know...the Wizard of Oz). Why? Glad you asked. It's in response to the passing of Margaret Thatcher. Pretty tough crowd in the UK, don't you think?
PROOF THAT REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS can agree on SOMETHING. The San Diego city council sent a bipartisan message to the United States congress concerning immigration reform. They told the boobs in Washington to pass comprehensive and common sense immigration reform...SOON! Every city council member (Democrats & Republicans) signed the missive. They said this is a UNITED message. Think it will work? It won't make a difference but I do believe this is an issue that is important to both parties (although more for the GOP, I would think) and we will have some sort of agreement soon....remember you read it here first.
WE HAD A NUMBER OF TOPICS TODAY, AND I didn't get to this one, so...Somebody bugged the office of Kentucky senator Mitch McConnell and recorded a meeting he had with his staff. McConnell says this is "quite a Nixonian move" and "This is what you get from the political left in America these days". The recording was released by Mother Jones magazine. Don't know if the office WAS bugged or maybe it's an inside job. We'll talk about this tomorrow morning.
A FOLLOW-UP TO A STORY I HAD LAST WEEK from Tennessee. The Tennessee legislature is considering a bill to punish people on public assistance who's kids are not doing well in school. The state would simply reduce the amount of assistance given to a family with a kid who is underperforming. We now hear of a group of religious leaders in the Volunteer State who are saying this is crazy. How can you possibly make poor children responsible for keeping their families afloat. We'll probably talk about this tomorrow as well.
AS I TYPE THIS, WE HAVE A GREAT THUNDERSTORM raging outside. At least it's not snow! However, if you have tickets for the Indians or the Aeros tonight, you might want to start a NO-RAIN dance. If you are heading to Canal Park, maybe I'll see you there.
HAVE A DRY DAY AND PLEASE JOIN ME tomorrow morning from 9am 'til noon on 640 WHLO. JIM
