WE DIDN'T GET INTO THIS ON TODAY'S SHOW but there is a fight going on down in Columbus, and we have an interesting group on each side. Democrats and some Republicans are saying NO to a new bill that would raise your energy costs while fattening the public utilities bottom lines (at least if you agree with their side). We have another side that says we need to adjust Ohio's renewable energy and efficiency mandates because they are probably illegal (this side is backed by the utilities and other Republicans). You can bet that those opposed to the new law are doing so because the voters will have a real problem if they see their energy costs sky-rocket. The first group also cries foul because many of the people who agree with the law were put into office by campaign money donated by....utility companies! I've got the solution, let's just go back to candles and smoke signals...yea that's the way to go.
I ALSO FAILED TO MENTION THAT WHILE THE Affordable Care Act has been a disaster thus far, a recent report indicates that since the Obama Administration said things were much improved, sign-up have increased big time. I don't know about you, but I'm really interested to see how this thing all plays out.
WE HAVE TALKED AT TIMES ABOUT THE Portage Crossing development in Cuyahoga Falls (some say this is why Don Robart lost his re-election bid last month). Now the Falls' neighbor, Stow, is wondering what to do with the almost empty Stow-Kent Shopping Center. I've got to believe this could be a great thing for Stow. That plaza (like many of the older plazas in the area) has been declining for decades. That is a perfect spot for retail and a few improvements could make all the difference in the world. Let's hope they have better luck than the folks in the Falls.
