SO THE INDIANS MADE IT OFFICIAL yesterday, introducing Terry Francona as their new manager. Francona is not a stranger to the club OR the (seemingly hopeless) situation in Cleveland. He has been both a player and a coach for the Tribe. I can't believe he would take the job unless he felt he had a reasonable chance of being successful. His tenure in Boston as the Red Sox manager was VERY successful (winning 2 world championships) although it ended badly at the end of last season. He goes back a long way with the Indians brass which would explain his interest in the job. Those of us who have watched the mess that has been the Cleveland franchise the last 10 years wish Francona all the best...but...not even the good Lord himself could win with very little talent, and that describes the Indians to a tee! As for Sandy Alomar NOT getting the job, he WAS the sentimental favorite but I think he'll find work elsewhere. If not, he could always stay in Cleveland as a coach (he's been offered a job). Now what about the Browns? Oh never mind. The Cavaliers? They won an exhibition game last night to start their season and will play the Milwaukee Bucks tonight in Canton. If I had to pick a Cleveland team that MIGHT become a winner in the near future, it would have to be the Cavs. Can you say "Kyrie Irving?
IF YOUR GOING TO THE ROMNEY rally tonight in Cuyahoga Falls, dress warm and call me in the morning with your thoughts. Enjoy the sunshine. Jim
