MANY LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL teams made the state playoffs this year, and the games begin this weekend. Here are my predictions...
Nordonia at Massillon...The Tigers seem to be loaded this year, and they're always tough at home, so it's a Washington win, although Nordonia should NOT be taken lightly!
Hudson at GlenOak...I picked against the Explorers last week and was SO wrong. However, GlenOak is probably the best team in Stark County this year, so I'm picking against Hudson again this week, but it will be CLOSE! This could be the best game of the weekend.
Ellet at Kent Roosevelt...It was a feather in the Orangemen's hat just making the playoffs, but Roosevelt is loaded this year and should win easy.
St Vincent-St Mary at Notre Dame/Cathedral Latin...I flipped a coin on this one, but I really believe the Irish could pull a minor upset here...St.V-St.M in a nail-biter.
Ravenna at Cleveland John Hay...The Ravens have had a great year and will upset John Hay.
Hawken at Manchester...NEVER go against the Panthers. Manchester all the way.
Steubenville Catholic Central at Mogadore...The Wildcats are where they should be...in the playoffs, and they will win.
Woodridge at Chagrin Falls...Chagrin Falls is one of the best teams in Ohio this year and should win, but it WON'T be a romp.
There you have it.
BY THE WAY, SATURDAY AT DIX STADIUM the Flashes host the University of Akron with the Wagon Wheel up for grabs. This could be AWFUL for the Zips. The only hope for Akron is that Kent comes in overconfident, but this is a rivalry game and that will NEVER happen. Let's just hope nobody gets hurt!
TALK TO YOU IN THE MORNING on 640 WHLO. Later...Jim
