LARRY MODIC'S HOUSE IS GONE. While you get what you pay for (Larry purchased the place for $10,000), this is still a very sad story. However I don't think it's over yet! According to reports, quite a few people seem to be ready, willing and able to help the vet get a new home in the same Kenmore neighborhood (and these people don't seem to be grandstanding like some already involved in this mess). The city of Akron is considering a lawsuit against the seller of the house, State Representative Zak Milkovich is working on a fundraiser at a downtown restaurant tomorrow evening, and Milkovich is also looking at several replacement houses in the area. Hopefully all will end well in this story.
WHILE I'M DISCUSSING GOOD DEEDS, the annual "Have A Heart Do Your Part" radiothon for Akron Childrens Hospital starts tomorrow morning at 5:30am with Keith Kennedy and Shannon Steele broadcasting live on 98.1 WKDD. YESTERDAY I GAVE A BIG YAHOO to the University of Akron basketball team. I won't make that mistake again! I nearly had a heart attack listening to the game on FoxSports 1350AM. The Zips are obviously a better team than last nights foe (Central Michigan), but the Chippewas took Akron right down to the wire. The Zips DID win but.... This Saturday they travel to Oxford for a game with the Miami Redhawks. A win would set the all-time record winning streak for the U of A at 15 games. I think I'll record the game and listen later, when I know who wins. I've already had one heart attack and really believe that's enough.
ENJOY THE SUNSHINE AND JOIN me tomorrow morning at 9am on 640 WHLO. Jim
