YESTERDAY ON THE RADIO SHOW WE spoke briefly about people getting delayed tax refunds from the Federal government. According to Reuters, the delay is because of closer scrutiny by the IRS concerning earned income tax credit claims, mostly among "lower income Americans". Now you know.
WE'VE ALSO DISCUSSED THE THREAT that could be North Korea. They not only threatened South Korea with pre-emptive nuclear strikes, but the USA as well. North Korea's only major ally...China...has stepped in and told the North to cool it and stop all nuclear tests. We'll see if that happens as China has voted in favor of UN sanctions in the past but enforcement, according to the BBC, is patchy at best.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO NEED WORK, you might consider babysitting! Although you may have to relocate to get rich. According to website Urbansitter, sitters in San Francisco make roughly $19 per hour. In New York City the rate runs from $13.50 to $14 per hour. There's money to be made in Boston and Los Angeles as well. I have no idea what the local rate is in the Akron area. Any ideas?
SAW A STORY EARLIER TODAY THAT indicated the Koch brothers are interested in getting into the newspaper business. The Tribune Company has put their papers up for sale and the politically active Koch brothers know the value of the media. The Tribune Company owns some of the most respected papers in the country, such as The Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun and The Los Angeles Times (in my opinion the BEST newspaper in the country). They would be expensive but if anyone can pay the freight, it is the Koch brothers. We'll see what happens.
