WELCOME TO MARCH MADNESS !!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY of Akron Zips!  Akron slid by Kent State on Friday and blew out Ohio on Saturday at the "Q" in Cleveland.  This gave the Zips the Mid American Conference Tournament Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tourney.  Akron's first round game will happen in Auburn Hills, Michigan this Thursday at 9:45pm.  Their opponent will be Virginia Commonwealth University.  The VCU head coach is a former assistant at U of A and close friend of Akron coach Keith Dambrot.  The Zips have never won a game in the NCAA Tournament, and while VCU has had a GREAT season, this will be one of the better contests in the first round, and I would not consider it an upset if Akron wins.  You'll want to stay up late on Thursday for this one.

MEANTIME, THE AKRON LADIES BASKETBALL team played but lost the MAC Championship game on Saturday, also at the "Q".  This season was the best in U of A womens bb history.  They will also be playing in a post season NCAA Tournament.

FINALLY, THE KENT STATE GOLDEN FLASHES are also involved in post season play.  They will host Fairfield at the MAC Center on Tuesday night.  WHLO will follow the Flashes as far as they go this season.

I SHOULD ALSO ADD...THE OHIO STATE Buckeyes are also involved in post season NCAA play.  They go up against Iona in a first round game in Dayton later this week.  Now if you're not a basketball fan, this will all be over in about three weeks.  I should also mention that FoxSports1350 is the radio home for all Zips games as well as all NCAA Tourny games this season.
