LIKE ALL SHOCKING NEWS EVENTS, ONE minute everything is OK and the next.....
AS I SAT IN FRONT OF A TELEVISION SET and an I-Pad screen yesterday, I was shocked and saddened by what I was viewing...again. As I mentioned on todays show, we have discovered in our country what those in places like Israel have experienced for decades. Can we stop this sort of thing? I don't see how, unless you want to suspend "taken for granted" freedoms from the American people. One thing that jumped out at me today however, was the blame game going on between the folks on the right and those on the left (some of the e-mail dripping with HATE). While we have always had a spirited debate between those of all political stripes, the crapola I was reading off the air this morning was very sad. A divided house cannot stand, and if what I read this morning is an indication of how the American people think, were screwed. Come on people, let's allow authorities to do their job and we need to realize that were ALL Americans first. God bless the USA.
EVEN THOUGH THE BOSTON STORY WAS tops this morning, there is good news for the city of Akron. It was announced yesterday that First Merit bank has no intention of leaving the area. On Friday the bank announced a merger with Citizens Republic Bancorp of Michigan, and there was some concern that First Merit would shift it's headquarters elsewhere. Not only will the rapidly growing local bank stay here, but they intend to add as many as 150 additional jobs at the Akron headquarters. To make a good story even better, First Merit and the city are working on a plan to change Cascade Plaza in the heart of downtown. The plaza was built in the 70's, and, as with just about everything else built in that era, it's long overdue for an overhaul. Reports indicate First Merit wanted changes as their headquarters are located right next to Cascade. The mayor would like to see more of a green area, as opposed to all the concrete there now, and to that I say "Here Here!!_.
