WITH THIS BEING THE DAY BEFORE AMERICA'S birthday, I thought I would share with you a short list of events taking place throughout the weekend...
THE RIB WHITE AND BLUE FESTIVAL is already underway in downtown Akron, and will run through Saturday evening. Concerts, great food (the ribs are always the best), and fireworks after the Akron Symphony show tomorrow night. The festival is once again at Lock 3 Park on South Main Street.
ORRVILLE IS ALSO CELEBRATING TODAY through Saturday at Orr Park. A midway with carnival rides and great food, a parade and fireworks on Saturday night. Also featured is a fast pitch softball tournament.
IN PORTAGE COUNTY, HIRAM HAS A parade and a fireworks show at 9:30 tonight. Do the speed limit when you reach Hiram, I'm just sayin'.....
MEDINA COUNTY HAS NUMEROUS CELEBRATIONS including Wadsworth. Fireworks tonight at Memorial Park right around dusk. Medina's Fireworks Festival takes place tonight and tomorrow, featuring carnival rides and live music and much more at the Medina Community Rec Center, with fireworks tonight at the high school.
KENT WILL HOLD THEIR 18th ANNUAL Heritage Festival downtown on Saturday from 9am to 11pm. Crafts, food, fireworks, a 5k run and much live entertainment on 3 seperate stages. I've been to this event many times in the past and it's always a good time. Look for the fireworks at 10pm downtown. Enjoy.
I'LL BE TAKING A FEW DAYS OFF THROUGH next Wednesday, and Tom Linder will be sitting in. Have a safe 4th of July and we'll talk next week on 640 WHLO...Jim
