IF YOU ARE A HISTORY BUFF, LIKE I AM, you'll want to visit www.summitmetroparks.org. Tonight they will feature, along with the Summit County Historical Society, a walking tour of downtown Akron and it's historic buildings. Then on Wednesday evening the Metroparks will conduct an historical tour of the Seiberling Nature Realm. Bring your walking shoes and show up at 7pm either or both nights. Maybe I'll see you there.
WITH FOOTBALL BACK IN THE NEWS ON A full time basis, did you see that Josh Cribbs (former Kent State Flash and Cleveland Brown) was cut by the Oakland Raiders? Some doubted the Browns decision to send Cribbs on his way, but apparently his off season knee surgery stripped him of his speed. The Raiders took a chance on him, but he had a lackluster pre season and at the ripe old age of 29, his career might be over. He's free to join any NFL team, so we'll see what happens.
ON MY WAY HOME EVERY DAY I PASS THE Akron Zoo, and I've noticed traffic around the place has been awsome this summer. I've heard many things about the zoo (all of them good) and believe if crowds are an indication, the zoo is more popular now than it's ever been. Last year the zoo broke it's all time attendance record and I've got to believe this year will be another record breaker. With kids back in school now, you could still take them on weekends as long as the weather holds out. I'm thinking it would be a great family outing.
ON TOMORROWS SHOW, I'LL GIVE YOU A chance to win 4 tickets to this Thursday's home opener for the Kent State football team. Just be the correct caller and your on your way to see the Golden Flashes beat Liberty. You still have a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas for the I Heart Music Festival in September. Listen for the keyword and text it to 36500. Good Luck! I'll talk to you in the morning on 640 WHLO. JIM
