JUST A COUPLE OF STORIES I DIDN'T GET to on today's show...
THE WHITE HOUSE HAS RELEASED A STATEMENT that was sent to the family of the 22 year old Austrailian man who was allegedly murdered by the three thugs in Oklahoma last week. Among other things, the statement said the president and first lady are keeping the family of Chris Lane in their thoughts and prayers. The US ambassador also spoke with his family and offered a tribute to them for the strength and bravery the family has shown as they deal with this unspeakable tragedy. Conservative media had urged Obama to issue some sort of statement. Now he has.
HERE IS A STORY THAT ISN'T REALLY NEWS, but I'll report it anyway. If you attended the Hall of Fame football game in Canton or one of the Browns preseason games in Cleveland, you may have noticed extra security and the confiscation of womens purses. The NSA is no longer at airports only. They have expanded to ballgames, music festivals, rodeos, even weigh stations along the nations interstate system. Some ladies didn't want to hand over their purse but the NSA was having none of it. Either take it back to the car or they'll take it and you can pick it up after the game. Having attended Browns games in the past, I'm trying to figure out why ANYONE would want to take a purse to a Browns game in the firast place. After all, First Energy Stadium is NOT church.
WHEN I WAS A KID, MY GRANDMOTHER WAS A big fan of the Old Farmers Almanac. She would tell me it's going to be a cold, hot, snowy, sunny, (fill in the blank) summer or winter. I loved grandma with all my heart, but she got it wrong more than the National Weather Service. Now the 2014 issue is out and says it's going to be a "piercing cold, bitterly cold, biting cold" winter this year in the midwest and the Great Lakes area, not to mention the northeast. The almanac is also predicting a snow storm for the Super Bowl this season. Usually that wouldn't be a real big deal, but this years "big game" is in New Jersey, at the Meadowlands, with no dome! While I put no stock in the OFA, it would be OUTSTANDING to see any football game in a snow storm...and I'll bet the players would love it too! Go Browns!
