I AM NOT MAKING ANY OF THIS UP...
WHEN THE US POSTAL SERVICE ISSUED IT'S Statue of Liberty postage stamp two years ago, it seemed like a patriotic thing to do. HOWEVER, the post office wanted to use a replica of the statue in New York Harbor...you know, the real thing. Well guess what...they didn't! They used the image of the fake statue in Las Vegas. How do we know? Well for one thing, the 2 statues are very very different. Different enough that the artist who created the one in Vegas is now suing the post office. Robert Davidson has lawyered up for a copyright infringement case. What makes this even more disturbing? Not long ago the Postal Service was sued by an artist who created the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the same grounds. He won half a million dollars!
FOUND THIS STORY SOMEWHAT INTERESTING...Ron Reagan, the presidents son (not the adopted one) has recorded a radio commercial for the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The ad is only running on The Randi Rhodes Show on a few progressive stations around the country, but I WAS surprised to learn that the younger Reagan is and has been an athiest since the age of 12. You can't pick your family!
CHANNEL 8 HAS A STORY ABOUT A CLEVELAND area couple who lost their daughter last February. She had flu like symptons and just died. Well hold on there just a minute! A Cuyahoga County grand jury has now indicted the parents for involuntary manslaughter, endangering children and permitting child abuse. What cha wanna bet this is an ugly one.
ONE OF THE MANY NATIONAL CONSERVATIVE RADIO talk hosts has announced his show is kaput on December 12. Mike Huckabee announced his radio show (started in April of 2012) has run it's course. Cumulus Radio thought Huckabee could take audience from Rush Limbaugh. Didn't happen. Rush is still king of the talk show kingdom. You can hear him every Monday through Saturday from noon to 3 on 640 WHLO.
I HAVEN'T TALKED MUCH ABOUT THE TRAIN DERAILMENT last weekend in New York City, but did find this part of the story interesting. Initial media reports indicated the engineer said the brakes failed (the train was going 82mph when it should have been doing 30). Investigators have since reported the brakes worked just fine at the time of the crash. Oops. Now I'm hearing reports that the engineer says he MAY have dozed off while on the job. People died in this event and me thinks William Rockefeller had better do a little lawyering up of his own.
ENJOY THE WARMTH (turning colder by the weekernd) and join me Thursday morning at 9am when we discuss WHY American kids are dumber than a box of rocks. Should be fun. JIM
Two college friends performing a social experiment on the issue of bullying staged random acts of bullying on campus to see if anyone would actually step in to stop it.
